ABOUT MCAPN - MUSLIM COUNSELLOR AND PSYCHOTHERAPIST NETWORK

The award-winning Muslim Counsellor and Psychotherapist Network (also known as the ‘MCAPN’) operates as an independent network, providing resources to the public, alongside services and resources to its members. The MCAPN is not a Professional Body, Membership Body or Accredited Register.

The Muslim Counsellor and Psychotherapist Network (MCAPN) works to:

  • build a professional support network for Muslim counsellors, psychotherapists, psychiatrists and psychologists
  • break down the barriers and stigma of mental health and promote mental health awareness
  • provide a professional Muslim Counselling Directory and Muslim Supervision Directory for easy access to qualified and registered Counsellors, Therapists, Psychologists and Supervisors
  • provide platforms and create visibility of Muslim practitioners within the mainstream counselling profession
  • support and contribute towards creating an inclusive profession and clinical practice

Established in 2013 as a LinkedIn Group, the MCAPN has addressed the need from mental health practitioners who are looking to network with fellow professionals, inform best practice or reach out to clients and supervisees via our Counselling Directory and Supervision Directory.

The MCAPN website will share our knowledge on mental health to raise awareness and educate our Muslim communities, helping to break down barriers and stigma around mental health and support more clients to access therapy/counselling/therapeutic support.

MCAPN works in collaboration with other organisations to host and present national conferences, develop counselling projects and publish books & resources on mental health and counselling in Muslim communities.
