What is the MCAPN?
The Muslim Counsellor and Psychotherapist Network (also known as the ‘MCAPN’) operates as an independent network, providing resources to the public, alongside services and resources to its members. The MCAPN is not a Professional Body, Membership Body or Accredited Register.
What does the MCAPN do?
The MCAPN works to:
· Build a professional support network for Muslim Counsellors, Psychotherapists, Psychiatrists and Psychologists
· Break down the barriers and stigma of mental health and emotional health, and promote awareness of both
· Provide a professional Muslim Counselling Directory and Supervision Directory, for easy access to qualified and Registered Counsellor, Therapists, Psychologists and Supervisors
· Provide platforms and create visibility of Muslim practitioners within the mainstream counselling, psychotherapy and psychological professions
· Support and contribute towards creating an inclusive profession and clinical practice
How do I find a Counsellor or Therapist?

All practitioners work privately and work independently. Each profile lists the client groups and issues/concerns they work with.
I am unemployed / low waged, do Counsellors offer a reduced fee?
Yes, some Counsellors for offer reduced fees. Please search on each profile for Counsellors who offer reduced fees.
What are the Membership options?
Membership is open to individual practitioners only.
Membership is a paid annual subscription.
Membership of the MCAPN will provide members with one of two levels of individual membership: Network Plus Membership or Directory Membership.
Membership packages may vary according to the level of individual membership.

Who can join the MCAPN?
Membership is open to individual practitioners only.
Membership of the MCAPN will provide members with one of two levels of individual membership: Network Plus Membership or Directory Membership.
To join as a Directory Member: you must be a qualified Muslim Counsellor, Psychotherapist, Psychologist or Psychiatrist and registered with a professional body.
For Counsellors and Psychotherapists: you must meet the minimum professionally recognised qualification of a Level 4 / Diploma in counselling or psychotherapy from a recognised institution AND be a registered member with a professional body, listed on their Accredited Register (i.e. BACP, UKCP, NCS, BABCP or equivalent professional body for non-UK practitioners).
For Psychiatrists: you must be licensed and registered by the General Medical Council (GMC) or the equivalent professional body for non-UK practitioners.
For Psychologists: you must be registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) or the equivalent professional body for non-UK practitioners.
To join as a Network Plus member: you must either be a qualified practitioner (meeting the same qualification level as listed above for Directory Membership) or trainee/ student counsellor, psychotherapist, psychiatrist or psychologist.
How much does membership cost?
Membership is a paid annual subscription.
Membership fees for new members are £99 for Directory Membership and £59 for Network Plus Membership for the first year.
Membership renewals after the first year are at the discounted cost of £89 per year for Directory Membership and £49 per year for Network Plus Membership.
How do I join the MCAPN?
To join the MCAPN you can download the Membership Application pack from the Membership page and submit the requested paperwork and supporting documents.
Please ensure that the Membership Terms and Conditions are read and understood prior to submitting your membership application.
How do I get my profile on the Counselling Directory or Supervision Directory?
Having a profile on the Counselling or Supervision Directory is included within the Directory Membership package. You will need to become a Directory Member to get a profile on the Directories. You can apply for Directory Membership by downloading the Membership pack via the Membership page.
How do I make changes to my Directory profile?
Any requested changes or updates to a profile can be emailed to admin@mcapn.co.uk Members will allow up to 48 hours for updates to take effect.
What are the Membership Terms and Conditions?

Can I cancel my membership?
New and renewing members are offered a 14 days no-quibble refund, from the start date of their membership, if a member wishes to cancel their membership.
After 14 days, a member can still cancel their membership, however the membership fee is non-refundable.
